Surveying Internship with Nyati Builders

Session 1: Introduction to Survey

•)This session stated the importance of Surveying  in Civil Engineering.
•) Surveying is the technique of determining the relative position of different features on, above or beneath the surface of the earth by means of direct or indirect measurements and finally representing them on a sheet of paper known as plan or map.

•) The most useful instrument in Surveying is Total Station which gives highest accuracy to measure readings. Total Station is multiworking instruments which offers you to perform all the functions of other instruments such as Prismatic Compass ,Autolevel, Dumpy level, Plane Table  Theodolite, Tachometre etc

•) As Single instrument performs all the surveying work. Thus in this internship we learned the pratical working of Total Station on Sites.

U.S.A Presidential Elections.

Source - Google Images

The United States presidential elections are scheduled on 8th of November 2016. As everyone is eager to know the next president of America whether Hillary Clinton or Donald trump will win, But if we look at their electing system it's far more different than that of  world's largest democracy India. U.S.A has a federal system of  Democracy. U.S.A has two major houses were the decision making of the united states is done. The houses are

1] House of Representative
2] Senate

SENATE: Senate is consider as  upper house which consists of 100 members that is 2 members each from 50 states.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVE: This house is consider as the lower house which consists of 435+ 6  members.

VOTING SYSTEM OF UNITED STATES:  The voting system for presidential elections changes according to state government.

1] 34 States members register as voters of a particular party, whereas 16 state members register independently ( that is same as that in India).
2] If a candidate of a particular party wants to register his name on Ballet paper (ie to contest election) he should get nearly 50%  of members of that party.
3] Candidates for elections in U.S.A are chosen by party voters who have registered as party voters.
4] People elect the electors and electors vote for President.

DRAWBACKS: There are several drawbacks in electing system of united states.

1] Basically its a 2 party system.
2] Voter driven primary.
3] Party get administrative power only.
4] Their system is No choice system.
5] Absence of Program and Ideology in Party.
6] Unequal distribution of seats regardless of population which leads to unequal value of vote.

I would like to thank MIT School Of Government for having seminar on this topic.

Smart city Vs Smart village.

Smart city Vs Smart village

Today we have become a nation completely in love with the word "SMART". we want smart phones and smart cities with glitz and glamour of skyscrapers and shiny offices.

But what about smart villages?

To have proper balance growth of the country there is need to develop smart villages

Why do we need smart villages?

we need smart village since it helps us to avoid the today's major problem of attraction of crowd to cities. If we just go on with the smart city concept then in future there will be again the need of replanning of cities due to increase in population of smart cities from rural sectors.

Smart villlage concept:

1)To make smart village proper planning and study of particaular village shall be done.

2) To have proper implementation of Goverment programes which are benifical for farmers.

3) To have educational institutions in village

4) To have internet facilities in village to have proper communication.

5) Industries should be attracted to villages

6) There should be avability of water and electricity facilites in village.

7) New technologies should be brought in villages.

8) Proper Roads should be there for better transport in villages.

9) Avability of resources.

By implemnting these steps there will be equal growth of villages which can lead to proper and balance development of country. If we concentrate more on smart villages then automatically smart cities can be developed.

Structure Relocation

STRUCTURE RELOCATION' is the new innovative technique in civil engineering feild. This technique will play a very important roll in the 'INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT' of any country in upcoming years. This technique will help us to implement proper TOWN PLANNING of a city as well as help us to Preserve our HISTORICAL STRUCTURES.This has meant that in past years, buildings have been needlessly lost, including buildings of heritage significance. Structural moving can be extremely cost effective, with the cost to move an average full brick house generally significantly less than new construction. Structural moving can also be significantly cheaper than dismantling and reconstruction of a structure.'

WHAT IS STRUCTURE RELOCATION ?

Structure Relocation is a process of moving a structure from one place to another without any destruction to its originality. This process is mainly applied for urban regeneration, to preserve historical monuments, to secure structures from flood prone areas.

WHAT ARE REASONS FOR RELOCATING A STRUCTURE?

There are several reasons for relocating a structure like

1] Relocation of structure from Flood-Prone areas
2] Relocation of structure for Commercial reasons
3] Relocation of Historical Structures for their Preservation.

WHAT ARE DIFFERENT METHODS TO RELOCATE A STRUCTURE?

There are two methods of relocating a structure
1] De-assembling and Re-assembling move.
2] Transporting the whole structure move.

This process is very useful in this era as many of the important structures like historical structures, important government buildings,  houses which lie in flood-prone zones can be relocated than demolishing it and rebuilding it. Also many of the urban- regeneration projects can be successfully implemented.
Structure relocation is the key for the many problems. For Example TAJ MAHAL india’s one of the most popular and important historical structure which is getting affected due  air pollution caused by surrounding factories can overcome this problem by applying the relocation process.

The following Video shows how Jacks are used for raising the structure
